Since my last post was a little bit of a downer, I think I need to perk things up around here! Despite the things I’m dealing with, I have been striving to be happier and more positive every day. Here are some things that have been perking my days up lately:
Big Magic, by Elizabeth Gilbert
I’ve heard so many bloggers and you tubers rave about this book and it’s no wonder; this book is fantastic! It’s all about “creative living beyond fear.” Fear is something that often gets in my way. Big Magic is an inspiring little pep talk on every page. I’m still in the process of reading it–I can only get a few pages in at a time while chasing a VERY strong willed toddler–but that’s part of the beauty of it. You can read a few pages at a time and not have to go back and re-read every time you pick it back up.
Rachel Hollis, The Chic Site
Rachel and The Chic Site are my new favorite things right now. Rachel is a working mom, entrepreneur, incredibly funny and quirky and positive…I could go on and on about this girl! When I feel like I’m having a bad day, or just can’t get out of a rotten mood, this girl’s always got something positive and fun to brighten my day. It reminds me that I have so much to be happy about, no matter what I have going on in my life. And that I have to make the choice to be happy instead of choosing to let those bad moods rule me. And keep choosing to be happy. Every day. Over and over again.
Lindsay DeFranco, The DeFranco Fam
This girl is my spirit animal. I started out watching The Philip DeFranco Show on YouTube years ago, and I’m now obsessed with his wife’s family vlog, The DeFranco Fam. They are a young family with a toddler, just like mine. Linz is hilarious and real and I just love her. She also suffers from anxiety and depression, and the experiences she has shared on her vlog has in part inspired me to seek treatment for my anxiety and depression.
Also, I’m a Beachbody coach now! It’s not something I thought I would be interested in at all, but I have even surprised myself with this one! A good friend of mine encouraged me to try a 7 day trial of Shakeology a few weeks back, and the rest is history! I love the way Shakeology makes me feel. I have shakeology for breakfast every morning, and it really sets the tone for my day. It keeps me full and energized, it’s keeping me from drinking soda (that’s a HUGE deal for me!)– it’s just had a ripple effect on my life. It gives me the momentum to make smarter choices all day. I’m snacking less and my meal portions are smaller.
In addition to shakeology, I also use Beachbody On Demand. I can stream a library of different workouts anywhere, any time! Since I loved it all so much, I’ve decided to sign up as a coach. Not only has it been a great opportunity for me to try new things and get out of my comfort zone a little bit, I also get a discount on my shakeology as a coach. (Score!) Another unexpected perk has been the wonderful people I’ve met through Beachbody Facebook groups. The ladies I’ve talked to have been nothing but kind and supportive and encouraging–it’s exactly what I need in my life right now!
